At of fields of steam-water mixes in volcanic regions (in Russia it is Kamchatka and Kuril islands) the simplest method to generate electricity is to apply back pressure steam turbines.

At the majority of the operating GPPs, a flow diagram with the condensing turbines is applied. It is more efficient in comparison with the flow diagram with back pressure turbines.

In case temperature of the separated water is rather high (higher than 1000C) at the fields of steam-water mix, the additional steam can be obtained by expansion (pressure drop in expander). The obtained steam flows into intermediate turbine inlet. It allows getting the additional work and, hence, increasing the efficiency of power installation. Theoretically, there can be several similar cascades.

For wider utilization of the heat potential of geothermal steam-water mix, it is reasonable to use the combined heat scheme.

 Geothermal sources of energy production are the matter of interest for a long time; however, due to different reasons, the main of which is their location close to natural geothermal sources, meanwhile they show comparatively small share of energy production in the whole balance of renewables. Capacities of all of renewables (without all hydro) in 2013 constituted 560 GWe, and only 12 GWe (or 2,1 %) refer to geothermal power plants (GPPs). Attractiveness of geothermal sources is substantiated by comparatively simple extraction or just availability of steam-and-water mixture or hot water, somewhat ready for further utilization for energy supply purpose.
